Early Years

Welcome to Upper Horfield Early Years. We have 2 Nursery rooms - Raindrops (2-3 year old's), Rivers (3-4 year old's) and 1 Reception class.

Upper Horfield Early Years

We share a Main Reception area with Upper Horfield Community School as well as have access to their facilities including Sports Pitch, School Hall and Playground.

We have two nursery rooms with outdoor areas so children have access to indoor and outdoor activities. We want to help your child be sociable, expressive, curious,  resilient, active and healthy, as they achieve their next steps in their learning and development journey. We have an experienced, qualified, diverse Staff team who specialise in tailoring childcare based on each child's individual needs.

Ensuring your child is happy and thriving in our setting is important to us so we encourage positive home/daycare relations. We welcome as much communication as possible via application called tapestry which allows parents and carers to see what your child has been doing at nursery, as well as comment and add what your child has been doing at home.

Raindrops Room

We are a daycare room for children aged 2-3 years old.

We understand that children develop at different rates and therefore we have created an environment that supports the individual according to their needs rather than to their age specifically. Children who are just two will start in a room that is focused to the needs of our younger children, but as they develop and their needs change we will support a transition to a room with older children.

Whilst we support children to develop at a pace that sustains their lifelong learning, we also encourage children to stretch themselves and explore new areas of learning.

Our nursery is a place where children are happy and confident; they have good friendships and are beginning their journey in life to be able to participate in our society by developing excellent communication and social skills.

Rivers Room

Many children join us at the age of 3 to take up their free early education, this is where we are able to work with them to develop their skills that will give them the best start when they make the transition to school.

Our staff are sensitive to the anxiety parents may have regarding their children’s development and next steps, but through their professional experience and expertise, they are able to reassure and give guidance.

Our staff see the potential in every child and will encourage them to achieve the very best they can. No child is left behind and every child is given support as an individual as well as part of a community. Your child will succeed from being part of our Early Years setting

Reception Class

We have a spacious classroom that is set up using the very latest thinking in Early Years to encourage and support children’s development in all 17 areas of the Early Years Framework.

Outside Reception Learning Area, designed to reflect learning within the classroom and support children’s development in all 17 areas of the Early Years Framework.

Our planning meets the Early Years curriculum objectives through topics that our children are interested in. We have lots of fun in Reception, following a purposeful, practical play-based curriculum. Children take part in a variety of activities – child initiated, adult led and directed. All children learn at different rates and we want to reassure you that we will help your child to achieve to the best of their abilities, whatever their level of development.
